Costa Coffee issue statement after car crashes into shopfront

The incident occurred early on Wednesday afternoon as a grey Ford was driven into the shopfront of Costa on Burford Road in Carterton.
Significant damage was caused to both the shopfront and the vehicle while three people were also injured in the crash.
Three people were seriously injured including a 64-year-old woman from Headington, as well as a 75-year-old woman and 38-year-old man, both from Carterton.

The trio were all taken to hospital where the two women currently remain but the man has since been discharged.
A new statement from Costa Coffee on Thursday evening said: “Yesterday, our store in Carterton experienced a major incident when a vehicle crashed into our premises, injuring three people.
“Our thoughts and heartfelt wishes go out to those affected, and we are continuing to support them in any way we can.
“We would like to extend our deepest thanks to the emergency services – the police, fire service, and ambulance crews for their swift and professional response.
“We are also incredibly grateful to the local businesses, tradespeople, and members of the public who rushed to help. Your support has been nothing short of extraordinary.

“A special mention must go to our amazing team, who handled the situation with exceptional calm, unity, and care. We couldn’t be prouder of them.
“This has been a truly difficult time, but the community spirit shown by Carterton has been a shining light.

Thames Valley Police, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Thames Valley Air Ambulance all attended the scene.
A police cordon was put up around Costa while the car was removed from inside the shop and taken away on the back of a recovery truck.
