US says new foundation to spearhead Gaza aid plan, bypassing UN

The US said Thursday a new non-governmental foundation will soon unveil plans to deliver aid to Gaza, sidestepping the UN as Israel’s blockade worsens shortages. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said the group would announce details “shortly”, stressing aid must reach civilians, not Hamas.
